What is Optimal?

Optimal is a web development and software
delivery project started by Gabe Fletcher in
2019. Its primary focus is to provide users
with custom modified versions of popular
apps and games in a safe and ad-free
environment. While many of the sites that
host modified software may be legitimate,
they all too often are loaded with malicious
ads and phishing content that can make
them nearly impossible to safely navigate.
This is where Optimal comes in. Ever wanted
to find a safe download of that Spotify Premium
mod you heard about? Look no further.

Why has v11 been delayed for so long?

Simply put, the landscape of custom apps is
changing rapidly as you read this, especially
when it comes to iPhone users. Due to new
legislation passed in the EU, installing custom
apps is easier than it ever has been for iPhone
users, and we have to account for all this in our
development process for v11, which started

after the release and subsequent deprecation
of v10.0.3 over six months ago. A lot of legal
complications have also effected development
during this time as well. For example, a major
new portion of v11's experience has been cut
because the platform it was based on recently
received multiple cease and desist requests
from several copyright holders, making its
support by Optimal impossible.

How does Optimal work?

Optimal utilizes several methods of delivering
custom apps to users. One such method is
through the use of the ReVanced Manager
app for Android. ReVanced Manager utilizes
the normally downloaded versions of apps
installed on an Android device and locally
modifies them with user-created patches,
such as ad-removal, custom theming, and
other features not present in the stock app.

Optimal for Android works in tandem with
a compatibility layer also developed by
Gabe called RVBA or ReVanced Base Apps.
RVBA hosts the recommended stock
versions of apps for patching through
ReVanced Manager as .APK files on GitHub.

Installing custom apps on iPhones is a bit
more complicated, whether you're in the
EU or not, and we have exciting developments
to share in this space when v11 launches that
will have significant benefits compared to
previous versions of Optimal (v10 and below)
